Spotlights, Oak Trees, Beingness and Inspiration
Dear Creative Soul Sister,
I hope this post finds you well and thriving.
I'm a little bit excited😁✨! My teacher Spotlight interview with my amazing mentor Chris Zydel (@wildheartqueen) is out today. In this interview I talk all about what led me to turn my whole life around, leave my permanent full time job, move countries, stop paying a dead end mortgage and set up my business bringing intuitive painting and creative spiritual tools to women for personal growth and healing. You can read it here and also listen to it below:
I don't know about you, but I am taking each day as it comes at the moment. Some days I feel inspired, grounded and able to be creative and productive, other days all I want to do is sit quietly in my back yard listening to my neighbours and the birds going about their business.
Simple routines are giving me enough structure to shape my days. One of my favourite daily routines has become walking through the golf course near my home. Until now, the public have only been able to walk on one designated footpath through the centre of the course, but now the public have free reign to explore the full grounds. I've discovered an immense oak tree there that my daughter and I had fun measuring the span of it's branches (a whopping 117 of our feet end to end) and the width of the base of it's trunk (16 of our little feet end to end). It could be over 700 years old!
My imagination runs wild imagining all the people over the centuries who've spent time with this oak tree and watched it change without faltering season after season, year after year, century after century. This reminds me that as women particularly, we are cyclical beings and when we can tune into our seasons and accept what each season means for us, our energy and our productivity the more aligned we become. The more we can accept ourselves and love ourselves exactly as we are regardless of what we DO.
In recent months I've committed to deconditioning from the cultural expectation of productivity and achieving and am releasing myself from my need to DO and achieve in order to feel good about myself. I am switching the focus from DOING to BEING. I'm attending to what gives me pleasure and I'm doing more of that. I'm rediscovering my passions and what makes me feel good. I'm practicing seeing myself in the way my higher self and guides see me and I'm acknowledging my strengths and what makes me uniquely me. Oh believe me, there's resistance to owning somethings about myself but I'm getting there!
May you find serenity in your daily life and time to quieten your mind to listen to the truth that is within you,
I'd love to hear how you are and what's inspiring you.
Wishing you a sense of safety within and peaceful groundedness,
Lots of love and light,
