Creating art just for yourself inside a book is one of the most intimate creative ways I know to explore yourself and your soul. Art journaling is about the process – allowing you to put down on the page what you are carrying and what is within you that needs to be expressed. The page often mirrors back to you your life, your soul and what is deeply and truly unique to you.
It can at times be a contemplative practice of self-enquiry and at other times a freeing frenzy of ‘sticking shit down’ and getting it all out! Your art journal is a versatile container that is willing and able to take and hold whatever you put into it. It’s a place of no judgement, a place for trying things out and retelling your stories and feelings over and over again.
In this workshop we will be using mixed media (acrylic paint, inks, pens, collage etc) and different techniques to express ourselves on the page. The approach I teach is designed to free you up and to help you let go of perfection and the need to ‘make good art’. We will create within a ‘No Comment’ zone which provides a safe, non-judgemental space where we feel freer to create authentically without fear of judgement. It releases us from seeking approval and praise from others and connects us more to the process and to ourselves.
Come and meet your soul on the page and learn to listen deeply to yourself without judgement and controlling outcomes.
Let yourself freely be you and communicate what is below the surface waiting to be heard. Give yourself two days of deep play, sisterhood and the opportunity to connect deeply with yourself and your fellow art journaling sisters in circle.
Express yourself in an embodied and grounded way through expressive arts movement and mindfulness. Create spontaneously and intuitively. Allow your higher self and spirit to communicate with you through your marks, images, words and combinations. Be open to not knowing and allowing yourself to hear and see what you need to know. Learn a process of self-expression that is portable and that you can continue at home.
